Fair Usage Policy

1. Policy Overview

CrestCloud's Fair Usage Policy ensures that resources are distributed fairly among all customers. While we aim to be as permissive as possible, we must enforce limits to maintain service quality for everyone.

2. Bandwidth Limits

Most plans include unlimited bandwidth for normal usage. However, excessive data transfers may be subject to review:

• Transfer rates exceeding 90% of available port for 7+ days
• Continuous streaming or file distribution services
• Backup services generating >500GB daily transfers

3. Storage Usage

Allocated storage should be used for active content. The following are monitored:

• Drives filled to 95%+ capacity for extended periods
• Excessive file backups beyond plan allocation
• Archive-only content (not actively accessed)

4. Processing Power

Servers are shared or dedicated depending on your plan. Fair usage includes:

• CPU usage averaging below 80% over 24 hours
• Memory usage below plan limits
• Process limits and concurrent connection limits

5. Database Usage

Database resources should be optimized:

• Inefficient queries or full-table scans
• Excessive connection counts
• Unoptimized indexes or poor schema design

6. Monitoring and Notifications

When usage exceeds fair limits:

• We send notification to optimize usage
• Provide recommendations for improvement
• Discuss plan upgrades if needed
• May apply temporary throttling to extreme usage

7. Legitimate High Usage

Legitimate applications may require higher resources. Contact us to:

• Discuss your application requirements
• Upgrade to suitable plan
• Configure dedicated resources
• Establish custom usage agreements

8. Service Modifications

CrestCloud may modify this policy or service configuration if fair usage limits are consistently exceeded. We will provide 30 days notice before making significant changes.

9. Appeals

If you believe restrictions are unfair or have legitimate reasons for higher usage, contact support@crestcloud.io to discuss. We're happy to work with legitimate applications.
